Getting a license to fly a drone in kenya

Are you thinking about getting a drone license?

In Kenya, getting a drone license is pretty pricey compared to other countries since they try to limit the number of people who can have it but it's not impossible. It just requires a few steps outlined below.

  1. Enroll in KCAA approved training

You need to undergo formal training at a certified school to learn drone operation, safety and airspace regulation. Click here to Contact us to get you sorted with the right school who have your best interest at heart . It typically includes:

  • Theory of drone laws
  • practical flying lessons

   2. Register your drone

If you already have a drone this would be a good time to register it as you might be fined later if you have a drone license but flying an unregistered drone.

   3. Apply for a remote piloting license (RPL)

Once you pass your exam, you can apply for a RPL via the KCAA website. Pay the required fee and adhere to drone usage rules set by KCAA.

POINTS TO NOTE:

  • You must renew your license yearly.
  • You can't fly in game parks and reserves.
  • Some places like airports and town are restricted and might require extra permits to fly.
